SPORTS AND SOCIAL PROGRAMME

Due to the number of exams in the summer term the sports & social programme is quite limited. Two main events do stand out, however. The first is the ISSA Girls’ Football tournament. Having won the tournament last year, this year’s team very nearly repeated the achievement, coming second on goal difference only. Many congratulations to the girls’, who continue to show the boys how it’s done! The second major event this term was Charity Day. Pressure of exams meant that this year’s Charity Day took place during an afternoon only. Nevertheless, we managed to raise almost £850.00, a remarkable amount for a school with only 140 students!

GRADUATION DINNER

This year’s Graduation Dinner was held at the Green Dragon Hotel, in Hereford. It was an enjoyable evening for all concerned and a pleasant way for the A Level and Bachillerato students to finish their course. End of year prizes at the dinner went to: Best students: Alberto Fernandez, Flaminia Franca, Jurgis Ragauskas & Francisco Sandar Best in English: Anton Krouk Most progress in English: Anatol Josan Best in Sports: Flavia Rivas (girls), Jurgis Ragauskas (boys)

DEPOSITS ACADEMIC YEAR 2003-3004

Many of you will know that we are becoming more insistent about deposits to reserve places at the school for next academic year. As the facilities and examination results at Saint Michael’s continue to improve we are becoming increasingly popular. To reserve a place and avoid disappointment it is therefore essential to pay the required deposit as soon as possible.

TERM DATES

Term dates for the academic year 2003-04 are as follows: Autumn Term Saturday 13th September 2003 – Wednesday 17th December 2003 Spring Term Thursday 8th January 2004 – Saturday 03rd April 2004 Summer Term Saturday 17th April 2004 – Thursday 24th June 2004 Some of the GCSE 1 and A Level 1 students have made plans to leave school before the end of this term. Please note that this is not acceptable. Classes continue right until the end of term and our aim is, of course, for students to achieve the highest possible marks. This is much easier to achieve if students are attending all classes.

SUMMER SCHOOL

It is likely that this year’s summer school will be the biggest (and, we hope, the best) so far. We currently have students from Italy, Russia, Israel, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, Slovakia, Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico and France – 16 different nationalities! Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable summer!
